Gidado Kids FA remarkable journey in the Hairsense league Cup as a first timer
Gidado Kids FA emerged the runners-up of the Hairsense Kiddies League Cup after losing 2-0 to Kwara Football Academy boys in the final.
It was their first time of participation in the league proper and the league cup.
Despite being a first timer, they had an impressive run from the first round of the tournament and showed resilience and grit.
They began their league Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Achievers in the first leg of the first round.
Goals from Animashaun Rufai and Jimoh Abdulrahman ensured they picked the draw.
In the second game of the first round, Ahmed Muiz scored the lone goal that won them the game against Achiever. They later secured their passage into the second round with a 3-2 aggregate win against Achievers FA.
In the second round of the league Cup, Abdulrauf Saadudeen scored a long range free kick goal against Future Stars FA to send Gidado to the quarter final. It was an interesting game as they also defeated one of the pioneer clubs in the league.
Obatoyin Sulaiman profited from a poor goalkeeping in the stroke of the half time to score Gidado’s lone goal in the game.
His effort proved enough as the League new comer pulled off yet another solid performance to advance to the next stage.
Fast forward to the semi final, the Gidado boys approached the game with zeal and energy and defeated Koller FA 2-1 to the surprise and admiration of many.
Goals from skipper Abdulrauf Saadudeen and Muhammed Hajji were all they needed as they claimed another big win over the one of the league heavyweights, Koller.
They would later face Kwara football Academy in the final and lost 2-0.
Their remarkable journey signifies the true spirit of team work, resilience and commitment. The team continues to participate in the league proper and hopes to make a significant mark.
